Dr. Kalava is our Medical Director and Founder at Breakthru Anesthesiology. He is a Double Board Certified, Mayo Clinic Acute Pain & Regional Anesthesia Fellowship trained Anesthesiologist. After his fellowship, he has been exclusively practicing in Tampa. He has clinical privileges at Tampa General Hospital & Memorial Hospital of Tampa. Dr. Kalava sees patients from Tampa and beyond. He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, European Society of Regional Anesthesia & Pain Therapy, & American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine.
Dr. Kalava performs ultrasound-guided nerve blocks (zero radiation unlike x-rays used by other pain physicians) and teaches anesthesiologists and pain physicians from around the world how to advance their skills and provide better care to their patients using an ultrasound.

This man is an outstanding physician. After going through four months of pathology and nerve related pain from my left knee to my left foot with no pain relief from my Orthopedic or pain management doctors procedures, my pain management doctor referred me to Dr. Kalava. Dr. Kalava knew exactly what he wanted to take place under his care and now that I am in week two of a four to six week procedure program, I am actually beginning to feel no pathology or nerve related pain. I know I have about four more weeks of procedures and I am looking forward to each one. Dr. Kalava does not believe in pain medication and, neither do I. His procedures show results and, I am so looking forward to returning to my active lifestyle and Dr. Kalava is the man to make it happen.
