Dr. Frederick is a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician and US Navy veteran. As a Flight Surgeon for the Navy, he deployed multiple times, including the Iraqi desert and to Haiti after the 7.0 earthquake in 2010. He attended medical school at the Medical College of Virginia (now called VCU School of Medicine) and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Loma Linda University in southern California. As a testament to his dedication to patients suffering from mental health emergencies, he was honored to receive the Hanover Crisis Intervention Center Medical Provider of the Year in 2017. At Alchemy Wellness, he seeks to restore hope for individuals suffering from mood disorders and chronic pain by compassionately administering and individually tailoring ketamine infusion therapy.

Dr. Frederick and NP Rachel at Alchemy Wellness are the most professional and caring medical professionals I have ever encountered. My experience at Alchemy Wellness genuinely changed my life. After researching ketamine infusion for chronic pain for years, I was delighted to find Alchemy Wellness in my hometown of Richmond. The entire process from my initial consultation to the care that I continue to receive has completely renewed my faith in our medical system. I have found tremendous pain relief as well as the unexpected result of a totally renewed sense of well being that a decade of severe pain had taken from me. If this is a treatment that you are considering, please do yourself a favor and take my word that you will not find a better center for it. This place is different from the rest. They actually genuinely care about their patients. That’s something that is very refreshing and unfortunately very rare these days. Especially if you are a pain patient. Not to mention Alchemy is also the most affordable clinic you will find. I rarely write reviews but I felt that it would be a disservice to anyone researching and considering this treatment to not learn of my experience with Alchemy Wellness. I will be forever grateful for the life that they have given back to me.
I found Alchemy Wellness with a google search during a very dark time in my life. I was overwhelmed with depression and dark thoughts. I had read about ketamine therapy and the promising results it was showing for treatment of a number of mental health diseases. I spoke with Dr. Frederick on the phone for almost an hour before my first visit. He is a good listener and carefully explained the treatments and what I might expect.
The actual treatments were very pleasant for me. Rachel was kind and patient and took very good care of me. It was obvious that both she and Dr. Frederick cared about me and wanted to help me have the best outcome. I did not suffer any side effects during or after ketamine treatment other than being very tired for one day after one of them.
Two weeks after my last treatment I feel hope for the future, my depression and dark/suicidal thoughts are still there but not with anywhere near the same force -they’re more like an echo of what they were. I feel like what I do matters and I can make choices to improve my future. From what I understand the benefits may not last forever but I am very thankful for how I am feeling now. I would recommend a consultation with Dr. Frederick to anyone who is struggling with what I am (was).

Ketamine Infusions are still a fringe treatment, and I was very skeptical about receiving them. My first consultation with Dr. Randy Frederick eased my fears, as he assured me that he really is invested in my recovery and is willing to pivot treatment as needed. His knowledge and passion for healing with Ketamine really shows.
I felt as though I got special treatment for every appointment at Alchemy, when really that’s just the level of individual care they provide. They’ve created a comforting and lovely space to work with and heal their clients.
The treatments themselves have been life-changing, but I could not attribute my recovery to them alone, as working with Dr. Frederick and Rachel Featherstone made all the difference.
