Steve Best, M.D. is board certified in psychiatry and has been the director of The Neuroscience Center in Deerfield, Illinois since 1996. He specializes in brain disorders that affect emotional health, cognitive ability and everyday behavior, and has a particular professional interest in treatment-resistant cases of these conditions. He earned his medical degree at the University of Cincinnati, and subsequent training included a two-year sub-specialty Fellowship in Neuropsychiatry of Children and Adults at Chicago Medical School.

It’s important to know that this doctor is NOT a neurologist but rather a psychiatrist. He told me I had epilepsy and placed me on medication for it. I went to a real neurologist and there was no evidence of epilepsy. He also charged me 10,000$ and expected me to pay in one lump sum. He said many of my services would be free of charge and then handed me this ridiculous bill. It was a bad experience. Also, SPECT scanning is totally unnecessary medically and will not tell you anything special. It’s a research tool
Dr. Best has saved our daughter’s life, and helped our family manage her bipolar in a way that no other doctor has ever been able to do. We are very grateful.
