About
Ibogaine Center Cancún is a small residential clinic in Cancun, Mexico. All medical care is directed by our physicians, Dr. Carolina and Dr. Franklin, who are responsible for screening, treatment and medical follow-up.
Ibogaine can temporarily prolong the heart's QT interval, so safety comes first: every candidate is screened before booking, and every treatment takes place under continuous cardiac monitoring with a cardiologist on site and a dedicated ACLS-certified nurse at the bedside. We accept no more than six patients at a time.
We are open about what ibogaine can and cannot do. It is not FDA-approved, it is not a cure, and it is not safe for everyone. If our medical team believes it is not right for you, we will tell you plainly. Our team is bilingual (English and Spanish), and most patients travel from the United States and Canada.
How I work with clients
1. Application and medical review: you or a family member apply online; our physicians review medical history, current medications and substance use.
2. Pre-arrival screening: EKG and blood tests (including electrolytes and liver function), and an echocardiogram when indicated. Any opioid transition, or benzodiazepine or alcohol taper, is planned with you before arrival.
3. Preparation: on arrival, baseline tests, hydration, electrolyte optimization and a final medical and psychological review.
4. Treatment: a single medically supervised ibogaine session with continuous EKG telemetry, a cardiologist on site and one-to-one nursing.
5. Integration: rest and integration days at the clinic, then a 90-day aftercare and integration plan after you return home.
Treatment approach
Our approach combines medical safety with preparation and integration. Ibogaine comes from the root bark of Tabernanthe iboga and has been used for generations in the Bwiti tradition of Gabon and Central Africa; we honor that origin while working within a medical framework. We follow published research, including observational studies in opioid use disorder and the 2024 Stanford study in veterans, while being clear that ibogaine is not FDA-approved and that controlled trials are still under way.
