How I work with clients
Whatever comes up during our sessions, there is light at the end of the tunnel. I have been a witness to it, and I can tell you it is healing. The important element in my sessions is that we have trust and a connection to work together. That is why I offer no-charge consultations, so we can establish this when we first speak. Following both modern therapeutic methods as well as more global and Indigenous modalities, I help others to un-cover what they come to know. During our sessions, as we discover more about you, this information informs me to choose the best approach/method to hold you while you uncover your truth. The focus of the healing process is the restoration of relationships that have become out of balance. As a counsellor, one is a supporter in a shared experience of learning and growing, with assessments usually being completed by the person being helped. I use questions, storytelling, humour, modelling, somatic modalities, parts therapy, and other proven methods to raise your awareness of your wholeness and interrelationships within life. When called, I use the healing power of hypnosis for connecting within ourselves: spiritual, mental, physical, and emotional. I use a two-eyed approach of both Ericksonian and Indigenous knowledge when using hypnosis, as well as much as possible during our sessions.
Biography
In my private practice, I work one-to-one, in groups, and online with clients from all over the world, guiding others to un-cover possibilities and paths to life. In terms of my recognized titles, I am a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor, a Counselling Hypnotherapist, a Hypnotherapy Teacher, and a Member of the Psychodynamic Association of Canada. When asked, I am a helper with ceremonial medicine, in gratitude to the Balinese and Cree knowledge keepers that have mentored me, guided me, and protected me as I learned what I can do and what I am still learning to do. My studies include an Advanced Counselling Skills Diploma, an Advanced Bachelor’s degree, and a graduate degree-a Post Baccalaureate Graduate Diploma. I am a Compassionate Inquiry Practitioner, a 240-hour, year-long, graduate level training in a psychotherapy mental health approach developed by Gabor Mate. I am also a Humanistic Neuro-Linguistic Programming Practitioner as well as a Master Practitioner of NLP. At present, my primary focus outside my practice is coaching mental health support workers and consulting around counselling and assessments within Aboriginal Services.
I have attended numerous other training in mental health, trauma, personal development, plant medicine and psychedelic integration, dream work, career and organizational development, to name only a few. I have also taken university graduate courses in financial planning, organizational development, and leadership. I have studied French (I am a bit of a Francophile), Spanish, Italian, German, Hungarian and Japanese. I am a lifelong learner and love to learn. My inspirations are work, travel, people, and deep curiosity. My personal journey, like you, includes growth both by default as well as by design, and inspires me to continue learning from knowledge keepers in meditation, qi-dong, spirit world, nature, ceremony, and overall how to live life from old knowledge into the present day.
I also draw from over 26 years of professional experience as a consultant, college instructor, a global coach and trainer, integrated with my practice. I work with people from all corners of the globe on-line and in-person training. I work, live, and create my responses in my daily life, whether I am in a business office, another country, or learning with my business, life and shamanic teachers.
I look forward to meeting you!
