About
Zoë Johnson, LPCC, ATR, is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Art Therapist in Minneapolis and the founder of Inner Roadtrip. She works with women who have done the work, can name their patterns and their wounds, and still feel lost, disconnected or far from themselves. Her practice brings together psychedelic therapy, including cannabis-assisted psychotherapy, with somatic therapy, art therapy, psychedelic breathwork and yoga nidra, all held within structured Portals and Intensives, one on one and in small groups of peers.
Before this work, Zoë was a professional ceramicist, an organic farmer and goat herder in the tropics, and a medical and surgical coordinator, and she is a mother. Alongside her clinical training she has studied extensively in shamanic traditions. All of it shapes the belief at the center of her practice: we are in relationship with everything and everyone around us, including the natural world, and integration happens in relationship.
How I work with clients
Maybe you’ve spent years in therapy. You understand your story, you can name what happened, and yet your body still braces and the same patterns keep circling back. I see this so often, and it’s a big part of why I work the way I do.
We work together in Portals, defined seasons of one to twelve weeks with a clear beginning and a clear close. Intensives are our shortest Portals, one week of immersive, concentrated time together. Some Portals are one on one, and some gather a small circle of women, because so much of what we carry was shaped in relationship, and so much of what shifts happens in relationship too.
We start by building a steady foundation: nervous system regulation, body awareness, a clear intention and a daily practice you can actually keep. From there we may open into expanded states through breath, yoga nidra, creative process or a medicine session, always prepared for carefully and integrated slowly. You keep your hands on the steering wheel the whole way.
I also offer preparation and integration for people journeying elsewhere, at a retreat, a clinic or on their own. Coming home is often the hardest stretch of the road, and you don’t have to make sense of it alone.
Treatment approach
My approach is relational, somatic and creative, grounded in clinical training and open to the spiritual and symbolic. I draw on somatic psychotherapy, nervous system science, art therapy and expressive arts, Internal Family Systems, mindfulness, breathwork, yoga nidra and transpersonal psychology. I work from the premise that you are already whole. You are your own best guide, you are your own best healer, and my role is to hold a steady, ethical container while you find your way. Every client completes a thorough screening before we begin, and preparation and integration are at the heart of everything we do. Sessions are in person in Minneapolis and online, private pay, with superbills available for out-of-network benefits.
