About this retreat
Akasa Journeys offers trauma-informed psychedelic preparation, facilitation, and integration in California. Since 2018, Paul Antico has supported individuals in creating thoughtful, well-prepared psychedelic experiences grounded in safety, harm reduction, somatic awareness, relational attunement, and respect for each person’s process.
The work may support healing, personal growth, self-exploration, and deeper connection with the body and psyche. Psychedelics can be powerful tools, but the medicine is not the center of the work. The process is.
Itinerary
Each journey includes preparation, the facilitated session itself, and integration support.
Preparation focuses on clarifying intentions, discussing set and setting, relevant trauma and attachment patterns, music, dosage considerations, and ways of using somatic awareness during the experience.
On the journey day, Paul creates a calm, supportive environment and remains present throughout the experience, allowing the client’s own process to unfold without imposing an agenda. Depending on the setting and client, the session may include a simple opening ritual, meditation, sound, music, and somatic support.
Integration typically takes place in the following days and focuses on making sense of the experience, exploring what felt meaningful, difficult, confusing, or unfinished, and supporting the translation of insights into daily life.
Paul’s work is informed by Rosen Method Bodywork, attachment theory, Polyvagal Theory, Compassionate Inquiry, PSIP, and other trauma-informed approaches. These influences also inform Relational Somatic Tuning, his approach to working with developmental and attachment trauma through somatic awareness, relational support, nervous-system regulation, and inquiry.
Akasa Journeys does not provide or procure medicines. Support is offered within a harm-reduction framework.
Serving Los Angeles and the SF Bay Area, with other locations by arrangement.
What's included
A typical journey includes:
A preparation session, usually held within the days before the journey, lasting approximately 1–2 hours. This includes discussion of intentions, relevant history, set and setting, dosage considerations, music, and somatic preparation.
The journey session itself, typically lasting 6–8 hours. The session begins with grounding and preparation for the experience, and Paul remains present throughout the process until the client feels complete and comfortable with the session ending.
An integration session, typically held the following day, lasting approximately 1–2 hours. This is an opportunity to review the experience, explore what feels important or unfinished, and identify ways to support ongoing integration.
Additional preparation or integration sessions are available separately if needed.
